A Unique Maplewood Montessori Program
At Alpine of Millburn, we present Montessori manipulatives within a traditional learning environment and use the Montessori Method to encourage the development of each student's skill set and natural abilities. Small class sizes and low student-teacher ratios enable us to nurture and assess each student continuously. Since it's essential to keep parents updated on their children's progress at school, we engage in a good deal of personalized communication, including newsletters, the timely return of parent phone calls, and regularly scheduled parent-teacher conferences.
Our Schoolhouse
At Alpine of Millburn, we know that well-rounded early childhood development lays the foundation for success later in life. Our facility's unique layout promotes both your child's social and academic development. Children from multiple age groups congregate daily for circle time, arts and crafts, and an array of other group activities in our large community classroom. Our colorful playground area is the perfect outdoor space for young learners to expand their minds and exercise their bodies. Preschool, pre-K, and kindergarten students choose skill-appropriate books that interest them from our engaging reading and library room.
Our Classrooms
With six to seven smaller classrooms and a low student to teacher ratio, Alpine Montessori of Millburn provides an exceptional early childhood education program that focuses on providing each student with a strong academic foundation while providing each child with individual attention and nurturing their social and physical development. In every classroom, our experienced teaching staff emphasizes the importance of cooperation, positive peer relationships, compassion, social etiquette, and respect for humanity. In addition to our daily school schedule, we offer before- and after-care for children enrolled in our early education program.
Maplewood Preschool
We have two preschool classrooms designated to our 2 1/2- and 3 1/2-year-old students at Alpine Montessori of Millburn. For preschool students, we offer a full- or half-day schedule, five days per week, or part-time. We introduce our youngest preschool students to the Montessori Method by presenting them with practical life tasks to help them develop the skills they need to be independent. Our 3 1/2-year-old students expand upon their practical life skills while developing critical thinking abilities and working toward reading-readiness.
Maplewood Pre-K
Alpine's pre-K program is a full day, five-day-per-week experience for 4 1/2-year-old children. Children in our pre-K classrooms are introduced to advanced practical life tasks and encouraged to develop their fine motor, critical thinking, mathematical, reading, and oral language skills. Alpine's pre-K students typically develop strong phonemic and rhyming skills and are prepared to employ consonant/vowel recognition in kindergarten. By the end of the school year, our pre-K students typically have mastered kindergarten-level skills.
Maplewood Accelerated Pre-K and Kindergarten
We welcome 5-year-olds and accelerated 4-year-old children to our full-time, five-day-per-week private kindergarten program. Our accelerated pre-k and kindergarten students independently achieve individual reading goals and also work in small group settings assisting peers. Children typically leave our program having mastered first or even second grade reading skills. Children in Alpine’s kindergarten program also work to acquire advanced math skills, culminating in the interpretation of advanced charts and an introduction to multiplication.
